PWS Kayaking Leadership Trip

Here is a visual summary of the 10 day Prince William Sound Kayak/Leadership trip that I and 3 of my amazing teammates just lead with some awesome AK student participants from around the state.

2 day ropes course with National Guard (in Anchorage)--focus, team building and leadership.
2 days of trip prep, shopping, packing (all student lead)
9 days of wilderness first aid training.
9 days of intense leadership training.
6 days of on water kayaking experience (Blackstone Bay, Prince William Sound).
6 days of "Leave No Trace" camping training.
2 hour boat ride (to and from Blackstone Bay) via Whittier.
9 days of very little sleep (bedtime 11pm-earliest, morning 7am latest) We had one 1am night coupled with a 6:30 am morning.
6 hours of boat set up and break down.
6 days of really fun camp songs.
4 hours of pre and post assessments.
9 nights of "reflecting" on performance.
9 days of laughter
9 amazing students
4 great guides
0 cell phones or ipods
1 campfire
50 surrounding mountains avalanche"ing" in the sun each hour.
2 mornings of humpback whales breaching
3 major glaciers calving and rumbling throughout the day.
15 sea otters splashing in the ocean outside our tents, keeping us awake at night.
6 days of "blue bird" skies, tons of sun, and calm waters.
100's of icebergs floating around us.
15 wag bags filled every 3 days.
1 trip of a lifetime.
