Our 2008 Ex-cell Camp Is Over. We all agreed that this was the best one yet.

Staff and RA's. Many of us have returned to run this camp for at least 4 of the 6 years since conception. We are becoming a little summer family. Joking and being playful (while doing what's best for kids) is the spirt of the camp. This year was a lot of fun. I can't believe they pay me to do this.

I've learned that even though a woman can't cook toast, it doesn't mean she can't do a good job teaching Culinary Arts.

This Spring the amazing staff I work with asked "Kirsten, you are going to teach our camp again this summer aren't you? We really need you! " and I replied.. "Yea! Love To." and they said "Great! Oh, and by the way, you'll be teaching culinary arts!" I quickly informed them that cooking wasn't my strongest suit and tried to convince them to go with outdoor leadership, global warming, skiing, underwater basket weaving anything but cooking. They laughed and then blabbered something about the kids having the opportunity to get national certificates, college credits, real life hands on experience, and a brighter future. So, after a few days of this, I gave in and decided to give it a shot. Well, only because they wore me down and then told me that they were putting Tina our Phase cooking professional in charge of the cooking lab and giving me all the classroom content stuff. "smile" Turns out we were a great team. The kids had a great camp and walked away with a lot under their chef's hats.
