Visiting our district's sites this fall..Tatitlik

Site of the Valdez Oil Spil (litte island to the right (Bly Island has a reef around it)-tanker hit that. Tatilik is directly behind the island (under the big mountain). Due to the currents the oil hit hardest in both Tatitlik and Chenga Bay.. Chenga Bay (site of our district inservice) was also hit very hard with the 1964 tsunami, losing over half the village. The school and many children were saved due to the fact that the school was on a bluff and in session..






My crazy co workers--The Voyage To Excellence Team (within a week we visited Whittier, Tatitlik, Chanega Bay, and Fairbanks..this was the start of a beautiful relationship..
